Red Bailey used to be a detective. But then gangster Whit Sterling offered him a job to find the missing Mumsie McGonigle. She'd put a bullet in Whit and worse than that, stolen some of his money. Whit wants her back. Finding her was easy. But returning her to Whit was more problematic. Because Mumsie got so far under his skin, Red couldn't think straight.

But that was ten years ago. Now Red has a new girl, and has put the past behind him. He's taken Whit, Mumsie and that unfortunate murder of his ex-partner, and buried them deep.
