After a brief encounter with a mature Marlee, her story begins in 1964 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She is three years old, and it is the eve of a heartbreaking tragedy. Soon, the girl’s rebellious nature is revealed. She lives as if nothing bad will happen because the bad thing has already happened. Growing up in a simpler time, with eighty—six kids on her street and thirty—five first cousins on one side of her family, Marlee’s story provides plenty of fodder to run with. And run she does!
