Julio de 2023. La narradora vuelve por primera vez a La Ciudad, donde residió durante ocho años, con la intención de dar forma a un libro sobre aquella etapa de su vida. Es ahora muy distinta de la joven que en 2011 llegó con mil euros en el bolsillo y con el ingenuo deseo de trabajar «de lo suyo», y el regreso le hace revivir muchas de sus inseguridades.

Al tiempo que se reencuentra con los amigos que permanecieron allí y afloran recuerdos felices y no tan felices, se abre paso una nada autocomplaciente reflexión sobre la identidad y el desarraigo, la precariedad, los conceptos de «casa» y «hogar», «amistad» y «familia», y, por fin, sobre el propio dibujo como refugio y tabla de salvación.

Navegando entre el pasado y el presente, Una casa en La Ciudad trata de la búsqueda de un lugar en el mundo y la constatación de que la vida no es más que aquello que transcurre durante ese mismo proceso de búsqueda.

July, 2023. Our narrator returns to The City, where she lived for eight years, willing to shape a book about that moment in her life. She is now very different from the young woman who arrived there in 2011 with a thousand euros in her pocket and the naive urge to work “on her thing.” And coming back makes her relive plenty of her insecurities.

While reuniting with friends that stayed there and seeing happy and not-so-happy memories surface, a not very self-indulgent reflection breaks through about identity and rootlessness, scarcity, the concepts of “home,” “friendship,” and “family,” and finally, about drawing itself as refuge and lifeline.

Cruising from past to present, A House in The City is about searching for your place in the world and the assertion that life is nothing more than what happens during this very quest.
