Ultimate OZ Universe Vol. 2: Into the Outerlands

ULTIMATE OZ UNIVERSE is a modern, canon-faithful continuation of L. Frank Baum's OZ novels built by AWA in collaboration with ShaggyMan Productions and Alchemation, alongside leading OZ historians, to honor the original mythology while expanding into the vast world beyond the familiar road of yellow bricks. Across forgotten regions, strange new realms, and legendary kingdoms, iconic characters return, new heroes rise, and the wonder of OZ grows wider with every chapter.

The Ultimate OZ Universe continues with its most thrilling chapter yet.

Following the breakout success of Ultimate OZ Universe: The Lost Lands, this new volume pushes deeper into L. Frank Baum’s world — not just beyond the familiar road of yellow bricks, but into corners of OZ filled with forgotten legends, strange new realms, and dangerous magical territories. Into the Outerlands builds on what came before and delivers higher stakes, bolder worldbuilding, deeper mythology, and a sweeping story that reshapes the future of OZ.

Into the Outerlands follows Dorothy and Ozma — heroines fans think they know — as they step into unfamiliar territory where old stories take on new meaning. Their journeys unfold on parallel paths, echoing and colliding in ways that reveal how vast OZ truly is, and how much is still waiting to be discovered.

Dorothy Gale is washed ashore on the wild coast of Outer OZ — she’s swept into a high-stakes conflict inside the walls of Castle Ev, ruled by Princess Langwidere. Far from familiar lands, Dorothy must rely on new allies and quick wits to navigate a realm where power is prized, cruelty is common, and every choice can change the fate of a kingdom.

Meanwhile, in the Emerald City, Princess Ozma struggles to master newly awakened magic that threatens to overwhelm her. Sent on a daring mission across the Deadly Desert toward Fire Island, Ozma is joined by Scarecrow, Lion, and Tin Woodman, and forced to discover what kind of leader OZ requires when a rising threat from the Nome King starts to stir.

Developed in close collaboration with leading OZ historians, Ultimate OZ Universe: Into the Outerlands is a meticulously researched continuation of Baum’s original novels. Spanning more than 120 pages of richly layered storytelling and striking artwork, this volume expands the Ultimate OZ Universe while remaining accessible to new readers and deeply rewarding for longtime fans.

The first volume reintroduced OZ as a living fantasy universe, earning praise for its canon-faithful storytelling, rich worldbuilding, and bold creative vision. Elton John called the debut “dazzling,” while People.com declared, “Citizens of Oz, get ready — there’s another star in your midst.” With Into the Outerlands, the saga moves from rediscovery into a grander, and often more perilous horizon — where wonder and danger travel side by side.

Bound by destiny, Dorothy and Ozma walk two parallel paths toward one shared fate — but OZ may not survive what’s coming. If you’re ready to follow them into lands where legends are tested and magic runs deep, now is the time. Bring home Into the Outerlands today!
