The Gift

Themes: ghosts, friendship, bullying, family, divorce, soccer, death. Zeke’s whole world has changed. His parents have split up, and he’s no longer on the soccer team. Things get even worse when Andrew, a mysterious new kid, shows up and needs Zeke’s help. Luckily, Zeke’s grandpa is there to help Zeke understand what’s going on with his new friend. Zeke doesn’t know it yet, but he needs Andrew's help too. This series of short 60- to 70-page novels was designed to engage a broad spectrum of striving readers.
