Seven Tales in Amber

Seven journeys through shadow, destiny, and fractured reality from one of fantasy's most original voices.

Seven Tales in Amber gathers a selection of Roger Zelazny's stories set within the legendary Amber universe-worlds where probability becomes landscape, dynasties walk between dimensions, and power flows through bloodline and will. These tales expand the intricate cosmology first introduced in Nine Princes in Amber, offering new angles on familiar figures and unexpected glimpses into the shifting tensions of shadow and throne.

Zelazny's prose-spare, ironic, and edged with mythic resonance-brings both immediacy and grandeur to the Amber mythos. Across these stories, loyalty and betrayal, identity and illusion, recur as central forces in a cosmos where reality itself may be negotiated. The shorter form reveals Zelazny's precision, allowing moments of character insight and philosophical undertone to surface with particular clarity.

This edition features an introduction by Warren Lapine, placing the Amber stories within the broader arc of Zelazny's career and reflecting on their lasting influence within modern fantasy. Whether revisiting the Courts of Chaos or encountering them for the first time, readers will find in these tales the wit, elegance, and imaginative daring that secured Zelazny's enduring reputation.
