Format: Large Print
THE 4MIDABLES: HOW THEY CAME TO BE is Book 1 of a YA time-travel adventure trilogy from a writer for Inspector Gadget.
THE 4MIDABLES can travel anywhere in the world in seconds for fun-or travel back in time up to 24 hours to solve crimes. But these four teens aren't superheroes. They secretly use the world's only teleportation device, created by the brilliant father of Madison (17) and Ethan (16).
Soccer star Madison and science-geek Ethan live in Florida with their father, a renowned molecular physicist at NASA. He created the device so their mother, a professor at Stanford, could travel home from California in seconds. After their parents swear them to secrecy, the family enjoys weekend getaways exploring multiple countries around the world.
During their travels, the family meets Maya (17), a wheelchair-using tech savant, in Mumbai, and Rafael (18), a police cadet in training in Spain. When Maya discovers the family's secret, Madison and Ethan swear her to secrecy-then she reveals her own remarkable secret: she was recently recruited by R.A.W. - India's equivalent to the C.I.A. - to help crack criminals' encrypted communications.
Fascinated by the teleportation technology, Maya develops an extraordinary upgrade: the device can now send the teens back in time up to 24 hours. They can arrive at the scene of a crime while it is happening, observe the criminals in action, and anonymously provide authorities with the evidence needed to bring them to justice.
Following their first case - recovering the stolen, uninsured vehicle of an unemployed man - the teens watched his tearful gratitude on TV. It was at that moment they realized they had the ability to impact people's lives - and they knew their lives would never be the same.
