The Funhouse [Collector's Edition]

With Tobe Hooper in the director's chair, it's a safe bet that there will be more house than fun in Funhouse. Elizabeth Berridge, Cooper Huckabee, Miles Chapin and Largo Woodruff play a quartet of dope-smoking teens who decide to spend the night in a carnival funhouse. The kids should have been tipped off that this was a bad idea through their confrontations with such eccentrics as stripteaser Sylvia Miles, barker Kevin Conway and magician William Finley. Yet the teen characters in films like these never learn until it's too late--and it's way too late when the foursome witnesses a murder committed by hideous mutant Wayne Doba. Not too compelling storywise, Funhouse scores on its overall atmosphere and sudden shock spurts.
