With summer quickly approaching, we're excited to announce our brand new Children's Summer Reading Program: License to Read.
In a time of increased book bans and heightened censorship, especially in regard to children's reading materials, it's important for all of us here at Tattered Cover Book Store to encourage young readers to read the books they want to read. That's why we've created special Reader's Licenses to hand out to all Children's Summer Reading Program participants!
These special licenses will grant all registrants 10% off ALL Children's and Young Adult books at ALL Tattered Cover locations (in-store only) from May 25th, 2024 - September 2nd, 2024.
And, as of today (May 21st), registration is officially open to join our Children's Summer Reading Challenge! This is a FREE program and all children are welcome and encouraged to register (ages 0 -18 years old).

Once you've registered, starting Saturday, May 25th, please visit one of our four locations (E. Colfax Ave., Aspen Grove, Stanley Marketplace, or Union Station) to pick up:
- Your official Reader's License
- Your Reading Log
Once you've registered and picked up your materials in-store, you are all set to receive 10% off* ALL Children's & Young Adult books at all Tattered Cover locations.
*Please note that this discount is only available in-store, not online. To receive your 10% off discount in-store, please make sure your bring your Reader's License with you when you come in to shop!
To complete the Children's Summer Reading Challenge, we're asking all registrants to log 1000 minutes (averages out to just 10 minutes a day!) of reading time in their Reading Log. Reading time includes being read to—hence the minimum age being set at 0!
Once you've completed 1000 minutes of reading time (and filled out your bonus Bingo Board in your Reading Log!), please turn in your Reading Log to any Tattered Cover location to receive a fun prize from our treasure chest! All registrants who complete the program and turn in their Reading Logs by September 2nd will also be entered into a drawing to win an EPIC grand prize, and if you complete the Bingo Board too, you'll receive an extra entry!
