ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Taran Matharu is a New York Times bestselling author. He was born in London in 1990 and began his first book at 9 years old. Taran wrote the Summoner series in November 2013 at the age of 22, taking part in ‘Nanowrimo’’. Updating the story daily on Wattpad.com, its popularity dramatically increased, reaching over 3 million reads in less than six months, and becoming published as a bestselling series. Since then, the book has been translated into 15 languages around the world.
ABOUT THE BOOK: The Summoner's Handbook (Summoner Trilogy)
Summoner: One who is gifted with the ability to summon demonic creatures that are emotionally connected to their human counterparts. As brought to life in the bestselling Summoner series, the magic of summoning is also an art, with a story of its own. The Summoner’s Handbook reveals the story of James Baker -- the epic journal that inspired the series hero, Fletcher, to discover his own summoning abilities. Along with a complete demonology, a guide to the basics of summoning, and glorious artwork from the world of the Hominum Empire, this is the volume that fans of the acclaimed and bestselling series must own.

LENGTH & TOPIC OF PRESENTATION
THIS IS A WORKSHOP, NO MATTER THE SIZE OF THE GROUP. Taran gives a short speech about himself, how he came to be published, Wattpad and how it helped him, hitting the New York Times bestseller list, etc. Taran lists his favorite books, tv shows, video games, hobbies as well as personal experiences on the left and the elements that he likes about them and wanted to include in his own stories on the right. He describes how these elements helped formed the basis for the Summoner series and gives the students 5-10 minutes to do it themselves while he walks among them, helping them choose their own. After this, Taran asks for volunteers to come up and demonstrate their sheets by telling us the story they have come up with and how they relate to their influences. Usually they need a bit of help, but Taran is able to come up with stories pretty easily around what they choose, if they struggle. Often, they will have already had a rough idea and have tailored their influences around that. Taran does this a few times until 5-10 minutes before the workshop ends, then does Q & A.
