ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Kevin Henkes is the author and illustrator of more than fifty critically-acclaimed and award-winning picture books, beginning readers, and novels. He received the Caldecott Medal for Kitten’s First Full Moon in 2005, and Waiting won a Caldecott Honor and Geisel Honor in 2016. Kevin Henkes is also the creator of a number of picture books featuring his mouse characters, including the #1 New York Times bestsellers Lilly’s Big Day and Wemberly Worried, the Caldecott Honor Book Owen, and the beloved Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse. His most recent mouse character, Penny, was introduced in Penny and Her Song; her story continued in Penny and Her Doll and Penny and Her Marble (a Geisel Honor Book). Bruce Handy, in a New York Times Book Review piece about A Good Day, wrote, “It should be said: Kevin Henkes is a genius.” He lives with his family in Madison, Wisconsin.

Computer/laptop with PowerPoint, projector, projection screen, microphone and podium, and a small table for Kevin's notes. The publisher will email the presentation in advance of Kevin’s visit, he will also have it on a flash drive as a back-up. Please conduct a sound-check of all equipment prior to Kevin’s arrival. Please also have a large easel, pad of paper, and markers for the drawing demonstrations.
Kevin is happy to sign newly-purchased backlist titles from Tatetred Cover Book Store and ONE book from home *WITH* the purchase of A Parade of Elephants. Please note that this tour is focused on the launch of A Parade of Elephants, which is why the publisher is requiring the purchase of the new title in order to have backlist signed.
PERSONALIZATION: Kevin will personalize, but please no special inscriptions (i.e. Happy Birthday). Please have one staffer distribute post-its and clearly print the requested names. The post-it should be placed on the opposite side of the title page before the customer arrives at the front of the line.
PHOTOS/VIDEOS– Photos (with no flash) are permitted, but no posed photos and novideo.
PENS– Please provide multiple black ball point pens for A Parade of Elephants and have fine-tipped sharpies for backlist mouse books. For the drawing demo please have the chisel-tip black sharpies available.

Tattered Cover will design an order form that the school should distribute in advance of the author visit, and again on the day of the event to all student attendees.
