DATE OF SCHOOL VISIT
Spring 2017 - she's flexible (but NOT available the week of April 4) (Estelle will visit two schools; one in the morning and one in the afternoon.)
WHY HOST ESTELLE? She's cool, charming, and was one of our authors at our Colorado Teen Book Con this past October! Estelle is self-made. Her favorite part of talking to kids is letting them know that you can come from difficult circumstances and rise above them. She likes empowering kids to make their own futures. She thinks it’s especially effective being that she's from the same general region as the students. This book will appeal to fans of Jennifer E. Smith's The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, Jenny Han's To All the Boys I've Loved Before, Gayle Forman's Just One Day, and Robyn Schneider's The Beginning of Everything.
ABOUT THE BOOK: But Then I Came Back
The story of Eden Jones, a seventeen-year-old girl who feels lost after surviving a near fatal accident. Unable to connect with her family and friends, Eden forms an unlikely relationship with Joe, a boy who comes to the hospital to visit Jasmine, a friend who may soon be gone forever. Eden is the only person who can get through to Jasmine, but is she brave enough to face a world that’s bigger and more magical than she ever would have allowed? Lyrical, unexpected, and romantic, Estelle Laure’s new novel is about interwoven lives, long goodbyes, and the imperfect beauty of young love.
ABOUT THE BOOK: This Raging Light
A funny, poetic, big-hearted reminder that life can and will take us all by surprise. Can the best thing happen at the worst time? Her dad went crazy. Her mom left town. She has bills to pay and a little sister to look after. Now is not the time for level-headed seventeen-year-old Lucille to fall in love. But love messy, inconvenient love is what she's about to experience when she falls for Digby Jones, her best friend's brother. With blazing longing that builds to a fever pitch, Estelle Laure's soulful debut will keep readers hooked and hoping until the very last page.
In This Raging Light , Lucille has to find a way to keep up on school, pay bills, look after her sister, and go to work, after her mother leaves her and her younger sister alone. And on top of all of this she falls harder in love with her best friend's brother. This Raging Light is full of so many feelings that pull on your heartstrings. I love that this book wasn't just a love story.

Praise for This Raging Light
"[Laure] has a raw, authentic voice and a passion for storytelling.” — Matt de la Peña, Pura Belprée honoree and award-winning YA novelist of The Living and Mexican WhiteBoy
“Her first-person narration is lyrical, akin to that of a Francesca Lia Block character, but there's an undercurrent of roughness in her voice… heartbreakingly hopeful, lyrically told..." —Kirkus
“In an assured debut, Laure gives Lucille a fierce stubbornness that keeps her going. . . The characters are well drawn, and Laure effectively depicts the adrenaline rush of love.” —Publishers Weekly
“I loved this book. I was torn between wanting to devour it in one breathless read and needing to stop and savor each gorgeous turn of phrase. This is a remarkable debut." —Morgan Matson, author of Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour and Since You’ve Been Gone
"This Raging Light is a funny, poetic, big-hearted reminder that life can—and will—take us all by surprise sometimes." —Jennifer E. Smith, author of The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight and The Geography of You and Me

LENGTH & TOPIC OF PRESENTATION
Estelle has 3 presentations. Please choose the one that fits your school the best:
Kindness In London, I did presentations mostly for middle schools and I addressed kindness and why I felt it was important and how it relates to This Raging Light. THIS PRESENTATION IS BEST FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLS and is about 30 minutes, plus time for Q&A.
Stories This presentation focuses more on me and my crazy childhood and how I came to storytelling, why I feel that reading and writing are both essential human experiences, and highlight a few non-fiction aspects of TRL and BTICB. This presentation is about 30 minutes, plus time for Q&A.
Writing Workshop I mentor kids in the writing program here, so for kids who are passionate about writing, I can do more of a writing prompt driven presentation, where I’m mostly asking questions and helping them to write. Time and length to be discussed with the schools preferences and needs.
SCHOOL TYPE & GRADES
Depends on the selected presentation, but middle schools and high schools. 8th - 12th grades.
DESIRED # OF STUDENTS
Depends on the selected presentation. The Kindness and Stories presentations are best suited for a large, assembly-type group.
For the Kindness and Stories presentations, Estelle will need a projector, projector screen, microphone, and a bottle of water. Estelle brings her own laptop, but will need cords to connect it to the projector.
