ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Raised in Atlanta and now a Denver resident, R. Alan Brooks is a writer, musician and host of the popular “Mother F**ker In A Cape” comics podcast, which interviews marginalized members of the geek world. Alan writes educational children’s comics and The Adventures of Captain Colorado for Pop Culture Classroom (the non-profit that stages Denver Comic Con). He is also the writer and creator of The Burning Metronome, a supernatural murder mystery graphic novel.
ABOUT THE COMIC BOOKS: The Burning Metronome
The Burning Metronome is The Twilight Zone meets Usual Suspects; a supernatural graphic novel murder mystery with social commentary woven into the stories.
LENGTH & TOPIC OF PRESENTATION
Anywhere between 20 minutes and an hour, depending on the schools needs. For middle schools, Alan talks about who he is, his comics, how he aapproaches comic book writing, how to make a career in the arts and what students can work on now to help get them there. The same discussion for high school students, except with more specifics about internships, business classes and understanding the financial components of a creative career. This can be tailored to whatever the school in interested in.

Computer/laptop, projector, projector screen, microphone (if audience is large.) No sound in presentation and Alan brings it on a flash drive. And a bottle of water.
Tattered Cover will design an order form that the school should distribute in advance of the author visit, and again on the day of the event to all student attendees.

If they do ask you for a book without a confirmation, just email us the name of the student and parent's name and we can check. DEADLINE: Online orders with SCHOOL PICK UP will only be available for one week after the school visit. Orders placed after that time will need to be picked up at one of our locations, or shipped.
