New Children’s Store at Stanley Marketplace

Tattered Cover Announces New Children’s Store at Stanley Marketplace

The space will focus on children’s books, creating a new destination for area families

Tattered Cover Book Store will debut its first-ever children’s-focused concept at Aurora’s Stanley Marketplace (2501 Dallas St) in early summer 2021. It will join existing food vendors and retail spaces located in the former aviation manufacturing facility-turned warehouse-style development.

The new concept from Tattered Cover will focus solely on books and non-book items for kids, creating an experience that’s totally oriented toward children. Upon its opening, it will host kid-friendly events and programming like birthday parties, children’s authors, story times, and more. While the physical space will be focused on inspiring the littlest readers, the book selection will include titles for older ages as well. Non-book items will also be available, including gifts for kids of all ages, such as toys, games and more.

“For the last 50 years, Tattered Cover has been a cornerstone of the Colorado community. With this brand new concept at Stanley Marketplace, we look forward to welcoming the next generation of readers,” said Kwame Spearman, CEO of Tattered Cover.

“Our dream is that every child in Colorado can have a memory of falling in love with a book or a type of a book or an author during their visit to Tattered Cover.”

The 1,400-square-foot space is being designed with children in mind, featuring kid-friendly shelving. Its centerpiece will be a large mural and architectural elements that whimsically evoke the experience of getting lost in a story. Tattered Cover is currently sourcing a local artist to create the mural, which will cover the back wall and incorporate experiential decor that kids can interact with and enjoy.

Mark Shaker, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer for Stanley Marketplace said,

“From the first time we laid eyes on Stanley Marketplace seven years ago, we thought ‘Tattered Cover is the perfect fit for what we are trying to accomplish with our community gathering place.’ We are so excited to welcome Kwame and Tattered Cover to the Stanley Family. They embody everything that we believe in.”
