Dear Helene Wecker,
I remember the day I took a chance and purchased The Golem & the Jinni. I was at a bookstore, looking for a last minute birthday gift for a friend. Aimlessly browsing, I turned a corner and a book covered in gold and blue caught my eye. I had no idea if it was something I would enjoy and after reading some reviews online, I was still skeptical. I took a chance, opened to the first page, and began reading. The skepticism I felt earlier transformed to awe, and minutes turned into hours. Your protagonists completely captivated me through their journeys to understand their place in a world they were not made for and their struggles to thrive in an unforgiving city.
I never found a birthday gift that day, but I discovered a tale of two beings, lost until they found each other. Ms. Wecker, thank you so much for creating a story that is compelling, somewhat unrelenting, and achingly beautiful. I know no words, in any language, to express the gratitude I have for you and your work.
Finally, I do not mean to be pushy, but please release the sequel The Iron Season sooner rather than later. You have a fan that is eagerly anticipating your next novel!
Your Ever Waiting Devotee,
