Join the Tattered Cover Book Store, UCD's College of Arts & Media, KUNC 91.5, and the Sie FilmCenter (in the Lowenstein CulturePlex, next door to the Tattered Cover Colfax Avenue) for an exploration of the world of classic movies, hosted by film critic Howie Movshovitz. All programs begin at 1:00 pm. Tickets are $1.00, and are available one hour before the screening from the box office. Parking is available in the parking lot off of Elizabeth or Columbine Streets.
This month we’ll see the 1940 Charles Chaplin classic The Great Dictator.
In his first full-scale talking picture, Chaplin plays both a Jewish barber and an obvious Hitler imitation called Adenoid Hynkel. Chaplin saw through Hitler—in utterly ruthless but still comic terms—long before most people, especially in the film world, were willing to do it. (125 minutes)
