Tattered Cover is pleased to host Regis University's Open Mic Night & Writer’s Meet-Up w/ Mile-High MFA Program at our Colfax location on Thursday April 13th at 6pm!
Come to the Mile-High MFA’s open mic and writer’s meet-up to mingle, share your work, and converse with our program directors, alumni, current students, and faculty about writing, community life in an MFA, and what it means to “come out of hibernation” as a writer.
Coming out of Hibernation: Our spring open mic theme investigates what it means to bloom, to grow, or to undergo a significant transformation or metamorphosis. How might issues of hibernation and coming out be applied to the personal resonances in our lives, or to our global considerations? What can we learn from other beings who come out of hibernation: the butterflies and bears, the flowers and trees surrounding us? What are the mythologies surrounding periods of rest and emergence? Who are we in relation to them?
We’d love to hear what you’re working on! We invite readers from outside the Mile-High MFA community to sign-up to read their own work (optional) when you pre-register for this event. Open mic readers will have 3 minutes to share their work on the theme of “coming out of hibernation.” *Please be mindful of trigger warnings and demonstrate respect for the dignity of all persons.
