All-Star Game Event: Turning Two (Virtual)

Fathers and Sons Playing Catch is the title of a book by Donald Hall, the former United States poet laureate. But it also brings to mind a pair of biographies, written by father and son about two baseball players whose courage and generosity meant a lot to their communities. The first is Clemente, an award-winning portrait of the Puerto Rican legend written by Pulitzer Prize winner David Maraniss, published in 2006. The other is the recently published Singled Out: The True Story of Glenn Burke, written by Andrew Maraniss that brings to light the player who not only invented the high-five; but, more importantly, blazed the trail for gay professional athletes. Introduced by former Sports Illustrated and ESPN writer Steve WulfPanelists subject to change.
