All-Star Game Event: Locked Out (Virtual)

In 1978 Sports Illustrated reporter Melissa Ludtke successfully sued Major League Baseball to get access to its clubhouses. Melissa, who is writing a book on her experiences entitled (Locker Room Talk - A Woman's Stuggle To Get Inside), will lead a conversation with other women who have covered baseball over the years. They will include Chelsea Janes, the national baseball writer for The Washington Post; Jane Leavy, the acclaimed biographer of Sandy Koufax, Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth, who got her start as a baseball writer for the Post; Suzyn Waldman, who has been reporting on the Yankees for some 30 years; and Alex Coffey, who has covered the Oakland A’s for The Athletic. Have things changed? In some ways, yes, and in some ways, no. Joining the panel will be Jessica Mendoza, a current broadcaster on ESPN and two-time Olympic medalist. Two years ago, the Houston Astros had to apologize to three women reporters after a team executive harassed them in the clubhouse after the Astros won the AL pennant. Panelists subject to change.
