All-Star Game Event: Comeback Season (Virtual)

That's the title of Cam Perron's new book (Comeback Season: My Unlikely Story of Friendship with the Greatest Living Negro League Baseball Players) about the time he spent with the greatest players of the Negro Leagues; and, it also describes the renewed recognition of the contributions  African-American players made to the game before and after Jackie Robinson and integration. The book also features a foreward by the late Hank Aaron. Cam Perron will be joined by Howard Bryant, the author of The Last Hero, the definitive and acclaimed biography of Aaron. Bryant, who has just joined Meadowlark Media, had been writing weekly columns for ESPN.com and is the author of several thought provoking books about sports and racism. His latest is Full Dissidence: Notes from an Uneven Playing Field published in 2020 . Also participating will be Paul Dickson, who has been described as "baseball's answer to Noah Webster" because he's the author of a full shelf of baseball books including the indispensable Dickson Baseball Dictionary; as well as Ron Rapoport, the author of Let's Play Two: The Legend of Mr. Cub, The Life of Ernie Banks. Rounding out the panel will be Luke Epplin, whose new book on the 1948 Cleveland Indians (Our Team: The Epic Story of Four Men and the World Series that Changed Baseball) about Larry Doby, Bill Veeck, Bob Feller, and Satchel Paige describes the improbable union that shaped the postwar era of Major League Baseball. Ryan Mayer, a journalist for CBS Local News, will moderate this event. Panelists subject to change. Panelists subject to change.
