A Crime Thriller with Birding at its Heart.

When a bullet explodes a jar with the remains of beloved bookseller Bruce McQuillan during his memorial ceremony, shrapnel wounds a dozen mourners, including Portland, Oregon Detective Kim Jansen and her boss, Chief Detective Mark Larson. Jansen's search for the shooter soon entangles her in a web of international intrigue and murder connected to the theft of John James Audubon's The Birds of America, one of the world's most valuable books, from the Central Library's rare book room.

Complicating the investigation is a growing list of suspects, including a group of eccentric millionaire birders, a woman who trophy hunts African elephants, a former U.S. Army sniper, and the daughter of the dead bookseller.
