About the Author
Jane Derrick was born in 1942 in Houston Texas to an anesthesiologist mother and engineer father who turned orthopedic surgeon. She was a championship tennis player at age 18. She has a BA in math and a masters in social work from the University of Texas, in Austin and worked for 22 years as a contract manager with the Texas Department of Human Services. After a full life as wife and mother, social worker and community activist, she faced Triple Negative breast cancer in 2012 and is five years out from successful treatment. In 2014 after having lived in Waco, Texas for 45+ years she and her husband moved to Denver, CO to live with her daughter and family. Jane has written her story,"See Jane Beat Cancer: A Guide for the Newly Diagnosed" in order to empower other cancer survivors. She likes to go bird watching and she enjoys singing and playing the banjo.
