ABOUT GIGI PRIEBE
Gigi Priebe is the mother of three, the founder of Stepping Stones, an award-winning children’s museum in Norwalk, Connecticut and the author of The Adventures of Henry Whiskers, the first in her middle grade series. When she is not writing or rewriting, she is a philanthropic advisor and community volunteer in Fairfield County, Connecticut, where she lives with her husband, a cat named Tigger, a dog named Clover, and probably some mice.
ABOUT THE BOOK: The Adventures of Henry Whiskers: The Long Way Home
Ryan, Harley and Miles are very different people--the swimmer, the rebel and the nerd. All they've ever had in common is Isaac, their shared best friend. When Isaac dies unexpectedly, the three boys must come to terms with their grief and the impact Isaac had on each of their lives. In his absence, Ryan, Harley and Miles discover things about one another they never saw before, and realize there may be more tying them together than just Isaac. In this intricately woven story told in three parts, award-winning Australian author Will Kostakis makes his American debut with a heartwarming, masterfully written novel about grief, self-discovery and the connections that tie us all together.
LENGTH & TOPIC OF PRESENTATION
40-45 minute interactive power point presentation. The presentation includes a sneak peek into Henry’s world - real and imagined (while Gigi reads the preface out loud, she powers through images of the real world setting at Windsor Castle, the famous exhibit where he lives, and a couple illustrations that accompany the first chapter.) Gigi's back story: Where the idea for the book came from and how it evolved and became a published book. Conversational exchange about basic story elements: What makes a great book, where do ideas come from etc. Children brainstorm out loud so there’s lots of give and take. Q & A follows.
