Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver

Building Homes, Building Lives, Building Community

Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver believes that everyone can and should have a simple, decent place to live and grow into all that they can be. Habitat for Humanity is a home ownership program that instills pride and encourages hope by offering a constructive means for families to break the cycle of poverty. Habitat brings together volunteers, families, and supporters who want to make a difference.

The organization was operated entirely by volunteers for more than a decade. In 1990 the board of directors decided to hire the first staff person and in 1992 hired the first executive director.

We are building 38 homes in 2004 and rank among the top 40 affiliates in the country in terms of home production. Since it's founding, Habitat of Denver has built over 210 homes throughout the metro area, which house approximately 1,000 people. We build one or two-story single-family homes, duplexes and town homes. We were recently awarded special recognition by Habitat International for our innovative green building techniques.

Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver's evolution during its 25-year history of operating has been one of consistent and stable growth. Community awareness and support, dedicated volunteers and outstanding leadership has brought HFHMD to where it is today.
