This month we’ll see the 1953 Yasujirô Ozu classic Tokyo Story/ Tôkyô monogatari.
Ozu, one of the great masters of cinema, is interested in families going through the normal changes in life. Here, an aging couple travel by train from their placid small town beside a river to see their grown children in Tokyo. It’s a disappointing trip for the parents, and a deeply sad film, made beautiful by Ozu’s extraordinary depth of understanding. (136 minutes))
