This month we’ll see the 1984 Jim Jarmusch classic Stranger Than Paradise.
When Stranger Than Paradise came out in 1984, it was the epitome of young, hip independent filmmaking, and it still is. The picture is full of long, canny silences and blank looks, minimalist drama and dialogue, and sometimes funny, sometimes mind-boggling events and coincidences. Two no-account New Yorkers wander first to Cleveland and then to Florida with a young Hungarian woman. With John Lurie, Richard Edson and Eszter Balint. (89 minutes)
