Presentation & Booksigning with Ernest Cline: Ready Player One
Jun 14 2012 7:30 pm
Colfax Avenue: Ernest Cline has tried his hand at many things, but his primary occupation has always been geeking out. He eventually chose to express his love of pop culture full time as a screenwriter (his 2009 film Fanboys became a cult phenomenon) and author. Cline used the advance for his first novel Ready Player One to purchase a vintage DeLorean. Taking a page out of that geek bestseller, Ernie will roll up to our store in his "sweet ride" and park it while he reads from and signs the new paperback edition (Crown).
“Completely fricking awesome…This book pleased every geeky bone in my geeky body. I felt like it was written just for me.” —Patrick Rothfuss, New York Times bestselling author of The Name of the Wind
✑ Ernie Cline is giving away a vintage DeLorean to celebrate the release of READY PLAY ONE in paperback. Inspired by the plot of his bestselling novel, he's hidden an “Easter egg” in the text of both the hardcover & paperback editions of the book. If readers can find this hidden clue, it will lead them to the first of three increasingly difficult video game challenges. The first person to complete all three will win the grand prize, a 1981 DeLorean automobile, complete with a Flux Capacitor! And get this, Ernie will be driving this DeLorean across the country on his June 2012 book tour, so contestants will have a chance to see the grand prize in person at the booksigning at Tattered Cover on Colfax Avenue next Thursday evening, June 14. Come and meet Ernie.
