Historic LoDo: Author Colin Meloy, singer and songwriter for the band The Decemberists, and acclaimed illustrator Carson Ellis, will read from and sign their new book Under Wildwood: The Wildwood Chronicles, Book II (HarperCollins), the eagerly anticipated sequel to Wildwood ★. Ever since Prue McKeel returned home from the Impassable Wilderness after rescuing her brother from the malevolent Dowager Governess (leaving her new friend Curtis behind as a Bandit-in-training), life has been pretty dull. But all is not well in Wildwood. Under a growing threat, Prue is drawn back into the wood, where she and Curtis will face their greatest challenge yet: to save themselves and the lives of their friends, and to bring unity to a divided country. But in order to do that, they must go under Wildwood. ★ Free numbered tickets for a place in the booksigning line will be handed out at 6 pm. Seating for the presentation prior to the booksigning is limited, and available on a first-come, first-served basis to ticketed customers only. Colfax Avenue: Rosie Sultan earned her MFA at Goddard College and won a PEN Discovery Award for fiction. A former fellow at the Virginia Center for the Arts, she has taught writing at Boston University, the University of Massachusetts, and Suffolk University. Sultan will read from and sign her debut novel Helen Keller in Love (Penguin), a captivating story that explores the little-known romance of a beloved American icon. “Rosie Sultan is adventurous—and brave. She has immersed herself in every available piece of information about Keller and, to an amazing degree, puts herself into her heroine’s silent, dark world. Sultan looks within, telling Helen’s story in the first person. We are taken into the isolation and limitations that Keller lived with her entire life. . . . Helen Keller in Love is touching and fun to read. . . . Sultan has given the adult Helen Keller a new voice and reminds us of both her brilliance and her humanity.” —The Washington Post Can’t make it to the signing?
