Highlands Ranch: Mystery writer Sandra Brannan will discuss and sign Widow’s Might (Greenleaf), the third book in her Liv Bergen Mystery series. Once again, Liv “Boots” Bergen showcases her vast knowledge of the Black Hills of South Dakota—territory made famous by the gold rush that followed General George Custer’s expedition—and the novel folk who live there.

Start: 7:30 pm
Colfax Avenue: Staff writer and film critic for the L.A. Weekly, Helen Knode will read from and sign her amusing new mystery novel, featuring journalist and part-time sleuth Ann Whitehead, Wildcat Play (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt). Following Ann’s first cinematic mystery novel The Ticket Out, which took us behind the scenes of the movie industry, she now takes us on another wild ride. This time her heroine, who never does anything half-way, is roughnecking it on a wildcat drilling operation in the San Joaquin Valley. It's full of oily characters, bad behavior and laughs, and exudes all the small-town atmosphere of a once booming, now meth-ridden California burg. Be afraid. Be amused.
