Colfax Avenue: Award-winning author William Cobb is the author of a book of stories and two previous novels, including the critically acclaimed Goodnight, Texas. Cobb will read from and sign his new novel The Bird Saviors (Unbridled Books). Set in a time of economic turmoil, virus fears, climate change, fundamentalist cults and illegal immigrant hardship, The Bird Saviors is a visionary story of defiance, anger, compassion and unexpected love, in which a young woman ultimately struggles to free herself from her domineering father, to raise her daughter in the chaos of the New West, and to seize an opportunity to become something greater herself. Start: 7:30 pm
Highlands Ranch: Author Ed Galisewski, a men’s ministry leader in New Jersey for more than fifteen years, and local cartoonist Drew Litton, who spent 26 years with the Rocky Mountain News, will discuss and sign their book A Simpler Faith: Hope for Those Who Struggle with Church (Samizdat Creative), Galisewski’s impassioned call for believers to return to a simpler, more personal relationship with God. The book, which begins with Galisewski’s own story, details all the various ways well-intentioned churches have begun to alienate Christians both inside and outside their congregations. Galisewski then reveals the concrete steps readers can take right now, in their own churches, to once again begin to practice Christianity the way Christ did—with love, compassion, inclusion, and a strong sense of community among all believers.
