Historic LoDo: Rob Mohr has been an enthusiastic golfer and history buff for more than 50 years. He is a collector of golf memorabilia, vintage Colorado license plates, and vintage Colorado postcards. Leslie Mohr Krupa is a historian and native Denverite who specializes in photography as research and as a hobby. Rob and Leslie will discuss and sign their new book Golf in Denver ($21.99 Arcadia Publishing), which looks at the people, places, and events involved in the grand game in the Denver area for more than a century. The photographs in this volume chronicle the sport in Denver beginning in 1896, when it was played nearly exclusively by a handful of socially prominent, wealthy Denverites, to today’s popular sport played on dozens of courses dotting the metro area. Colfax Avenue: Multiple award-winning and critically acclaimed journalist and author Francisco Goldman will read from and sign his new autobiographical novel Say Her Name ($24.00 Grove/Atlantic). Goldman married a beautiful young writer named Aura Estrada in a romantic Mexican hacienda in the summer of 2005. The month before their second anniversary, during a long-awaited holiday, Aura broke her neck while body surfing. Francisco, blamed for Aura’s death by her family and blaming himself, wanted to die, too. But instead he wrote Say Her Name, a love story, a bold inquiry into destiny and accountability, and a tribute to Aura, who she was and who she would have been.
