Start: 5:30 pm
Colfax Avenue: Everyone who has read, or is reading, The Help, by Kathryn Stockett—this year’s selection for the One Book, One Denver program—is welcome to join us for a book discussion. The discussion will be lead by Dr. Bianca Robinson Williams. Ms. Williams is an Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her research in the U.S. and Jamaica investigates the various strategies black men and women utilize to pursue happiness and maintain good mental health individually and as communities. In her spare time, Williams enjoys reading the fictional works of authors such as Jodi Picoult, Zadie Smith and Wally Lamb.
Start: 7:30 pm
Highlands Ranch: Boulder author Erin Blakemore will discuss and sign her new book The Heroine’s Bookshelf: Life Lessons, from Jane Austen to Laura Ingalls Wilder ($19.99 HarperCollins). A testament to inspirational women throughout literature, Blakemore’s exploration of classic heroines and their equally admirable authors shows today’s women how to best tap into their inner strengths and live life with intelligence, grace, vitality and aplomb.
