Colfax Avenue: Local writer Dimity McDowell and co-author Sarah Bowen Shea are successful sports and fitness freelance writers. As an assignment for Runner’s World, they trained together for the 2007 Nike Women’s Marathon, and they continue to run regularly in races of all lengths. Both are mothers and longtime runners. McDowell will discuss and sign their new book Run Like a Mother: How to Get Moving-and Not Lose Your Family, Job, or Sanity ($14.99 Andrews McMeel), which offers both inspirational advice and practical strategies to help multitasking women make running part of their busy lives.

Historic LoDo: Anne Lamott is the author of the bestsellers Traveling Mercies, Operating Instructions, and Bird by Bird, as well as six novels, including Crooked Little Heart and Rosie. Lamott will read from and sign her new novel Imperfect Birds ($25.95 Riverhead), a powerful and redemptive novel of love and family. This novel is Anne Lamott’s most honest and heartrending novel yet, exploring our human quest for connection and salvation as it reveals the traps that can befall all of us. Free numbered tickets for the booksigning line will be handed out beginning at 6:30 pm. Seating for the presentation prior to the booksigning is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis to ticketed customers only. Request a signed copy: books@tatteredcover.com
