An Afternoon with Opera Colorado - Tosca
Start: 12:00 pm
Historic LoDo: Greg Carpenter, General Director of Opera Colorado, and the stars and artistic team of Tosca will lead an interactive discussion about their upcoming production. Visit Opera Colorado’s website.
Judith Tannenbaum - By Heart: Poetry, Prison and Two Lives
Start: 7:30 pm
Historic LoDo: Judith Tannenbaum, a nationally-respected educator, speaker, and author, who has conducted poetry and writing classes at maximum security correctional facilities, will discuss and sign her new book By Heart: Poetry, Prison and Two Lives ($20.00 New Village Press), which she co-wrote with longtime friend Spoon Jackson. Jackson, who was sentenced to Life Without Possibility of Parole when he was twenty years old, has written, published, and received awards for plays, poetry, novels, fairy tales, short stories, essays, and memoir during the more than thirty years he has been behind bars. In this beautifully crafted exploration—part memoir, part essay—Tannenbaum and Jackson consider art, education, prison, possibility, and which children our world nurtures and which it shuns. At the book’s core are two stories that speak for human imagination, spirit, and expression. Request a signed copy: books@tatteredcover.com
Jacqueline Winspear - The Mapping of Love and Death
Start: 7:30 pm
Colfax Avenue: Jacqueline Winspear, the New York Times bestselling author of Among the Mad and An Incomplete Revenge, will read from and sign The Mapping of Love and Death ($25.99 HarperCollins), another thrilling installment in her Maisie Dobbs series. In The Mapping of Love and Death, Winspear’s popular “psychologist and investigator” Maisie Dobbs is hired to unravel a case of wartime love and death, an investigation that leads her to a doomed affair between a young cartographer and a mysterious nurse. Visit Jacqueline Winspear’s website. Request a signed copy: books@tatteredcover.com
The event with Daniel Kalla has been cancelled.
Start: 7:30 pm
Highlands Ranch: We are sorry that this event with Daniel Kalla has been cancelled. Daniel Kalla is an emergency room physician and the international bestselling author of Pandemic, Resistance, Rage Therapy, Blood Lies, and Cold Plague. Kalla will read from and sign his new book Of Flesh and Blood ($25.99 Forge), the story of a hundred-year-old hospital and the two founding families, whose history is clouded by forbidden love, conflict, and betrayal. As their story unfolds, devastating family secrets, doomed relationships, and present-day medical disasters threaten not only the families but the legendary hospital itself.
