An Evening with The Paris Review and Caitlin Roper
Start: 6:30 pm
Historic LoDo: Caitlin Roper, managing editor of The Paris Review, will offer a view inside the workings of a literary review. She’ll also introduce issue No. 192, the Spring 2010 issue.
Robin Black - If I Loved You, I Would Tell You This: Stories
Start: 6:30 pm
Colfax Avenue: Robin Black’s stories and essays have appeared in numerous publications, including One Story, Colorado Review, The Georgia Review, The Southern Review, and the anthology The Best Creative Nonfiction. The winner of many awards and a recipient of fellowships from the Leeway Foundation and the MacDowell Colony, Black is a graduate of the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers. Black will read from and sign her new book If I Loved You, I Would Tell You This: Stories ($24.00 Random House), a brilliant, hopeful, and fearlessly honest collection that takes readers into the minds and hearts of people navigating the unsettling transitions that life presents to us all. Visit Robin Black’s website. Request a signed copy: books@tatteredcover.com
Nick Trout - Love Is the Best Medicine
Start: 7:30 pm
Highlands Ranch: The Denver Dumb Friends League joins us in presenting veterinarian Dr. Nick Trout as he discusses and signs his new book Love Is the Best Medicine: What Two Dogs Taught One Veterinarian About Hope, Humility, and Everyday Miracles ($23.99 Broadway Books). Trout’s book immerses readers in the true-life drama of beloved pets whose lives hang in the balance. Every page underscores the profound bond we have with the animals in our lives and the incredible responsibility Nick carries as their healer. Certainly Dr. Trout has an impressive array of fancy equipment, training and skills at his disposal, but his most important tool (as he powerfully illustrates here) is a fundamental belief in the power of hope, humility, and grace. This event will be a Double-Up Donation Night for our Tattered Cover Gives Back (TCGB) nonprofit partner The Denver Dumb Friends League (DDFL). TCGB members who’ve chosen to support The Denver Dumb Friends League can make a purchase at this event and 2% of that purchase (as opposed to the normal 1%) will benefit the DDFL. Those wishing to join the TCGB program in support of the DDFL are welcome to join tonight! Visit Nick Trout’s Facebook page. Request a signed copy: books@tatteredcover.com
