Handmade Valentine Fundraiser

Colfax Avenue: Guests are invited purchase handmade Valentines created by some of Denver’s savviest young poets! For anyone who has ever spent a fruitless afternoon shopping for the perfect Valentine’s Day card, this fundraiser is for you. The talented young poets of the Metro Denver Promotion of Letters (MDPL), a writing center for kids, will be available to help guests create the perfect message for loved ones. At a mere $5.00 a card, each valentine will be specially made and infused with the magic of kids’ poetry. All proceeds from this event will help fund publishing these young authors. As an added bonus, anyone who buys an MDPL Valentine’s Day card at the event will receive 10% off one book purchase at the store today!

Tattered Cover Film Series - The Jungle Book

Starz FilmCenter: Join the Tattered Cover Book Store, UCD’s College of Arts & Media, Colorado Public Radio, and the Starz FilmCenter for an exploration of the world of classic movies, hosted by Colorado Public Radio film critic Howie Movshovitz at the Starz FilmCenter at the Tivoli. All programs begin at 7:00 pm at the Starz FilmCenter at the Tivoli. Admission is free, but tickets are required from the box office. Tickets are available one hour before screening. Validated parking is avilable in the parking lot directly in front of the Tivoli. This month’s movie is the 1942 Zoltan Korda classic The Jungle Book. The story of a boy (Sabu) raised by wolves who has adventures with his neighbors—the snakes, elephants and tigers. Based on the story by Rudyard Kipling, and put together by a remarkable crew, including cinematographer Lee Garmes, art director Vincent Korda and composer Miklós Rósza. Cast includes Ralph Byrd, the star of the Dick Tracy serials.
