Rick Posner - Lives of Passion, School of Hope
Start: 7:30 pm

Colfax Avenue: Rick Posner, Ph.D., began working for the public schools as a bus driver and custodian. He went on to become a special education teacher, consultant, and alternative school teacher and administrator. Receiving his Ph.D. in 1989, he established his expertise in the fields of self-directed learning and the modern rites-of-passage curriculum. Posner will discuss and sign his new book Lives of Passion, School of Hope: How One Public School Ignites a Lifelong Love of Learning ($17.95 Sentient), which tells how a progressive public school in Colorado has transformed the lives of its alumni.

Shawn Snow & Amy Zimmer

Historic LoDo: Shawn Snow, a fifth-generation Denverite with a passion for history and historic preservation, will discuss and sign his new book Denver’s City Park and Whittier Neighborhoods ($21.99 Arcadia), a collection of photographs of Whittier, City Park, and surrounding Denver neighborhoods which relates their histories from 1880 to 1950. Author and historian Amy Zimmer, a Capitol Hill resident, specializes in researching the history and architecture of Denver. Zimmer will discuss and sign her new book Denver’s Capitol Hill Neighborhood ($21.99 Arcadia), which takes readers on a tour of the places and events that made Capitol Hill Denver’s most fascinating urban community.
