James Schroeder - Confessions of a Political Spouse
Start: 12:00 pm

Historic LoDo: James Schroeder will discuss and sign his book Confessions of a Political Spouse ($16.95 Fulcrum). In this candid memoir, Jim Schroeder shares his experience as the husband of former US congresswoman Pat Schroeder, one of the best-known women in American politics and current president of the Association of American Publishers. Recounting his experience as “Mr. Pat Schroeder,” Schroeder brings humor and insight to such topics as compromise in marriage and child-rearing, women as friends and colleagues, the challenges and rewards of being part of a power couple, including dispatches from the Dennis Thatcher Society. He looks at how men come to terms with today’s evolving gender roles and the challenges and compromises of two-career families.

Historic LoDo: Victoria Tupper Kirby, Allen True’s granddaughter, will discuss and sign her new book Allen Tupper True: An American Artist ($25.00 Museum of the Rockies/Univ. of Washington Press). This first definitive biography of the Colorado artist Allen Tupper True (1881-1955) relies on letters, diaries, and contemporary news accounts as well as family history to describe his artistic evolution from illustrator to easel painter to muralist. The lavish illustrations include most of True’s murals (both extant and destroyed), a selection of his major easel paintings, as well as some of his sketches and cartoons and Indian-inspired designs.
