| The Tattered Cover sponsors contests for Colorado children and young adults each year. |
 The Banned Books Week Essay Contest, co-sponsored by the Colorado Freedom of Expression Foundation, honors of the annual observance of Banned Books Week at the end of September. All Colorado teens, grades 7 - 12, are invited to submit an original essay on the First Amendment’s relationship to books.

 The Tattered Cover Children's Bookmark Contest asks children to create a colorful bookmark on the theme of reading. The winning entries are printed and distributed to customers during the course of the year.
