Staff Reviews

I've found this whole wave of 'wives of...' fiction that has been upon
us rather fascinating.  I've read many of them, and all are rather
good.  But a few stand out.  And I would say that Z is one of
those.Fowler did tons of research but still adding some of that magic
she has when her fingers touch a keyboard.  She breathed new life into
what could have been stale, and made this very difficult woman come
alive again for a generation or two who perhaps would never really known
about her.  The pages turn themselves as we become privy to the
Fitzgerald marriage and its many, many layers.  Demons and darlings, and
everything between, come through in technicolor through these pages
thanks to Fowler, and lets us be voyeurs for a bit of the train wreck
that was the Fitzgeralds." ~Jackie

“Z gives voice to a much unknown and misunderstood literary figure. While Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald lead a very public life in many ways, Zelda was often forced to operate in a lifestyle that would make any modern woman squirm with discontent, if not cry out with a vengeance. Fowler breathes life into a voice who very much deserved to be heard in her own time and now. Any lover of the art, literature, and culture of the Jazz Age will not be disappointed with this read.”
