In bone-chilling temperatures and on ice-slick roads, a nine-year-old girl is stalked by a deranged pedophile as she walks to school. She manages to outwit the child predator when she sees his pickup truck circling the block. Because of her experience with the child predator, she has nightmares. Her mother takes her to see a child psychologist, but the little girl still believes the pedophile is stalking her. Jacque refuses to walk her dog on the days that she is running late for school. The commitment she makes to herself creates a wedge between her and her brother, Shawn. The children have a lot of responsibility, but caring for their French Poodle is the prime reason for their arguments. When the little girl refuses to walk the French Poodle in the morning, the dog has accidents in the house. The frequency of this pattern provokes the boy to argue with his sister. After the pedophile poisons the children's dog, the dog returns from the spirit world with the ability to communicate in English. The French Poodle assists Jacque and Shawn and a diverse group of children in their mission to bring a dangerous pedophile to justice.
