Staff Reviews

"This is a great series for three reasons. The first is that Reilly
had a wonderful and creative fiction voice; Murph is a treasure.and the
characters that roam around in one of the books or all of the books
never fail to be written with a delicious quirkiness that puts a smile
on your face.  Secondly, these books provide an insiders look at Denver
and all of it's beautiful craziness. You really can learn a lot about
Denver and it's surrounds from them. The third, and most moving
reason, is because Reilly's have banned together to publish all of his
books as a memorial for being such a good, talented and warm writer and
friend.  His person is very much missed, but through these novels, he
lives on, cracking jokes each and every day. ~Jackie Blem

About the Author

Gary Reilly, who died in 2011, left behind 25 novels. Five have been published posthumously all featuring bohemian cab driver, Brendan Murphy, a.k.a. "Murph." Those five books are The Asphalt Warrior, Ticket to Hollywood, The Heart of Darkness Club, Home for the Holidays and Doctor Lovebeads. All reached The Denver Post best-seller list. Ticket to Hollywood and Doctor Lovebeads were finalists for the Colorado Book Award (in 2013 and 2014, respectively). Six more "Murph" adventures remain unpublished. During his lifetime, Gary saw only one short story in print. "The Biography Man" appeared in the Iowa Review in 1978 and was later included in the Pushcart Prize IV, an anthology of small-press fiction.
